ANIMAL HEALTH ASSISTANT REF NO: LDARD 30/05/2024 (X1 POST)

 

SALARY: R183 279 per annum (Level 04)
CENTRE: Vhembe Far North

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Grade 12 or equivalent qualification as recognized by SAQA.
  • Experience: 2 years’ experience in the Animal Health field.
  • License: A valid driver’s license (with the exception of people with disabilities).
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Good communication skills.
    • Ability to mix dip solutions, clean and reassemble syringes, handle veterinary tools and equipment.
    • Experience in handling cattle, small stock, and poultry.
    • Ability to read and write.
    • Interpersonal, communication, evaluation, persuasion, time management, and conflict management skills.

DUTIES:

  • Assist in implementing disease control measures.
  • Improve animal health through biosecurity, vaccination, and surveillance for disease and treatment of animals.
  • Collect specimen, examine, and dispatch samples of animal diseases.
  • Provide extension services on animal health to animal owners.
