CHIEF DIRECTOR: ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS (X2 POSITIONS)

SALARY: R1 269 951 per year, (salary package all included). The remuneration package includes a base salary (70% of the package), a State contribution to the Government Employees Pension Fund (13% of the base salary) and a flexible portion that can be structured according to the personal needs of each individual.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Natural or Environmental Sciences/Development Studies or relevant degree in NQF 7 within related field recognized by SAQA. A Project Management qualification will be an added advantage. Five (5) years of experience at a senior management level within the corresponding field. Extensive experience in Environmental Programs. Extensive experience in Program and Project Management. Knowledge of coordination and strategic planning. Strategic capacity and leadership; management and empowerment of people. Understanding of risk management and auditing.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide general leadership ensuring strategic management and coordination, as well as the successful operation of the General Directorate. Supervise the execution of the portfolio of Environmental Programs. Manage the projects of Environmental Programs within the provinces. Ensure the alignment of programs and projects with the strategy, policy, and priorities. Oversee contract administration and project management in accordance with applicable practices/legislation. Ensure operational efficiencies for Environmental Programs. Ensure that operational planning and implementation respond to the district’s development model and local government priorities. Ensure the capacity and development of contractors for Environmental Programs.
