CHIEF DIRECTOR: GOVERNMENT AND MUNICIPAL STRUCTURES REF NO: 31434/02

SALARY: R1 269,951 per year, an all-inclusive remuneration package. The package includes a base salary (70% of the package) and a flexible portion that can be structured in terms of the applicable guidelines.
CENTER : Pretoria

REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications – Minimum: A Grade 12 certificate and an undergraduate qualification in Public Administration/Management or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 7 as recognized by SAQA) 5-10 years senior management level experience in the relevant field. A graduate degree will be an added benefit. Technical knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Municipal Structures Law, Municipal Systems Law, Municipal Demarcation Law, Municipal Treasury Management Law, Anticorruption Legislation, Knowledge of the processes of the justice system and legislative drafting; transformation of public service and local government; monitoring and evaluation techniques; local government policies and systems. Additional requirements: Pre-Entry of Senior Management Program. Required: Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Project. A valid driver’s license. The selected candidate is expected to travel extensively

RESPONSIBILITIES: Job Purpose: Direct and support the development and implementation of municipal government policies; provide strategic direction and support to ensure efficient systems of delegations in the municipalities; in collaboration with stakeholders such as the National Treasury, Auditor General and organized local government, support provinces and municipalities to improve audit results and to
develop a national response plan in this regard; strengthen municipal governance and control mechanisms in the municipalities; develop the policy in relation to the division of powers and functions between municipalities; develop and implement anti-corruption and ethics programs in local government; strengthen and maintain alliances with police and judicial authorities in anti-corruption matters.
